Learning Program Case Study
For the purpose of confidentiality, we’ll refer to the company in this case study as ‘Media Masters.’ Operating in the bustling Media sector, Media Masters recognized the necessity for a specialized in-house training program. They sought to develop an online course focused on “Documentary Scriptwriting: From Research to Narration”. The course was explicitly produced for the company’s team of Screenwriters. Along with necessary training materials, it was noted that the course also needed to have functionality for automated email notifications. Specific to this requirement, an automated email would be sent to the learner’s supervisor when a Screenwriter completed drafting their first documentary script.
Traditional or legacy elearning authoring tools focus primarily on content delivery and assessment tracking. Their capabilities expand to creating, delivering, and tracking progress in learning materials but they don’t necessarily extend to task-specific notifications or integrations with external systems. Hence, one of the drawbacks of these systems is their lack of flexibility for customizing triggers based on course interactions. Therefore, implementing a feature that sends out automated email notifications when a user completes their first draft of a documentary script is beyond their scope. Most legacy elearning tools simply don’t support such event-driven communication. This lack of flexibility prevents the inclusion of real-time acknowledgements like the aforementioned email notification.
The key to solving the notification challenge was the integration of a smart tool called Email Messaging eLearning Widget into the tier of the course. This widget facilitated the generation of automated emails at specific stages of the course without the need for any steps to be taken by the learner. It introduced the opportunity for learners to receive additional training resources by automated email, and it enabled management to get notified when their team made distinct selections or provided certain responses in the course. The widget could also be used to notify relevant team members about a learner’s course completion. Furthermore, the learners were now able to directly email their responses and commitments made during the course, and could receive certificates of completion via email. Ultimately, this tool also served as a mechanism for verification of training completion, where automated email confirmations could be sent both to the learners and the relevant parties, ultimately leading to a more engaged and interactive learning environment.
Case Study Outcome
As a result of using the Email Messaging eLearning Widget, Media Masters was able to achieve more effective, real-time communication in their online course. The tool allowed learners to access more resources, helped managers track their team’s progress, and overall enhanced the learning experience. Plus, the ability to automatically send course completion notifications and certificates made the learning experience more rewarding for the learners. Last but not least, the widget provided an already integrated system to verify training completion. So, it’s safe to say that the integration of this tool made a significant positive impact on the company’s eLearning strategy.
